§ 1-22. General penalty.

  • (a)

    Any person violating any of the provisions or failing to comply with any of the mandatory requirements of any ordinance of the city is guilty of a violation. Violations are classified as one of the following categories:

    (1)

    Class A violation;

    (2)

    Class B violation;

    (3)

    Class C violation;

    (4)

    Class D violation;

    (5)

    Unclassified violations;

    (6)

    Specific violations.

    (b)

    The penalty for committing a violation is a fine. Except as otherwise permitted by law, the maximum fine for an ordinance violation committed by an individual is:

    (1)

    Class A violation: $500.00—$1,000.00;

    (2)

    Class B violation: $250.00—$500.00;

    (3)

    Class C violation: $75.00—$250.00;

    (4)

    Class D violation: Up to $75.00;

    (5)

    Unclassified violations: an offense that is designated as a violation but does not specify the classification is a class A violation;

    (6)

    Specific violations: if a special fine is specified by the ordinance creating the violation, the fine shall be governed by the ordinance creating the violation.

    (c)

    Each such person is guilty of a separate offense for each and every day during any portion of which any violation any provision of the ordinances of the city is committed, continued or permitted by any such person, and the person is punishable accordingly.
